<p>The cabbage soup diet calls for drinking nothing but water or unsweetened fruit juice on days when juice is allowed.  A general outline of the diet is something like this.</p>
<p>Day one &#8212; cabbage soup plus as much fruit as you can eat, but no bananas.</p>
<p>Day two &#8212; cabbage soup as usual, and vegetables including a half baked potato without butter.</p>
<p>Day three &#8212; cabbage soup and any vegetable or fruit except bananas or potatoes.</p>
<p>Day four &#8212; enjoy the daily Cabbage soup plus up to eight bananas and skimmed milk.</p>
<p>Day five &#8211;  cabbage soup and as much as 20 ounces of beef, as well as 6 tomatoes.</p>
<p>Day six &#8212; cabbage soup, unlimited beef, and any vegetables except potatoes.</p>
<p>Day seven &#8212; Along with cabbage soup eat brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice   no potatoes.</p>
<p>The cabbage soup diet claims that people can lose 10 pounds in only one week.  What the diet doesn&#8217;t specify is that most of that weight loss would be water. A week is simply too short a time in which to lose 10 pounds of fat. What the cabbage soup diet could accomplish in a week is to make someone sick from eating poorly.</p>
<p>In addition the cabbage soup diet isn&#8217;t easy. That isn&#8217;t to say that it&#8217;s complicated, but cabbage soup seven days in a row can be quite bland and boring. Quitting the cabbage soup diet after only a few days was common. There were even attempts to spice up cabbage soup recipes but they failed.</p>

No matter how vigilant you are, your teens are going to be introduced to drugs at school, the very place you believe to be a safe environment. Mrs. Reagan&#8217;s &#8216;Just say no to drugs&#8217; campaign was a complete failure. The fact is that teenagers view adults as old fuddy-duddies that don&#8217;t know anything. Adults, try as they may, face an uphill war in protecting their young ones from the devastating effects of drugs.</p>
<p> The battle is made tougher by the fact that most of us have prescription drugs in our cupboards. When confronting the issue of teens and drugs, you have to give them a sound argument that differentiates between necessary prescriptions and illegal drugs. This isn&#8217;t easy. Some well known prescription medicines are being peddaled in schools as a way to catch a buzz. Kids don&#8217;t realize that these prescriptions are issued in duplicate or triplicate, as a way to control the use of specific narcotics. Without having experienced a real need for such drugs themselves, they could well come to the conclusion that their parents are experiencing and liking some buzz that they are for some reason being forbidden.</p>
<p> Another problem with teaching children about the issue of teen drug abuse is that this society does not differentiate between drugs. Some medicinal drugs are needed, but when it comes to teens and drugs, we say that every drug is bad. This is incorrect. Some children need medications for actual problems. Not used as prescribed, that medicine can produce a high in a kid who doesn&#8217;t need it. Sometimes, that medication can have disastrous consequences when taken as a &#8216;recreational&#8217; drug.</p>
<p> Kids are not able to make those distinctions. For example, a person with extreme pain due to arthritis or cancer, may be prescribed codeine or another opiate to help with the pain. Children don&#8217;t understand that this person doesn&#8217;t get high. That medication only dulls the pain. However, in the world of teenagers and drugs, this potentially dangerous drug becomes an opportunity toget high. They don&#8217;t know the difference.</p>

Although the infection can stay in the body indefinitely, the number of outbreaks tends to decrease over a period of years.</p>
<p><strong>How common is genital herpes?</strong></p>
<p>Results of a nationally representative study show that genital herpes infection is common in the United States. Nationwide, at least 45 million people ages 12 and older, or one out of five adolescents and adults, have had genital HSV infection. Over the past decade, the percent of Americans with genital herpes infection in the U.S. has decreased.</p>
<p>Genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men (almost one out of eight). This may be due to male-to-female transmission being more likely than female-to-male transmission.</p>

<p> I am searching and delving into the mystery of the eye.  How is it that our eyes are an actual extension of our inner being, a mirror to our soul and spirit?  What is it that our eyes are connected to that gives them so much life?  So much expression?</p>
<p> The eyes, as we all know by now, are more efficient than any computer created by man. We already know that the eyes are connected to the brain, physically.This connection is the difference between what we see, and what our brain thinks we see.  The eyes look&#8230;the bran tells us what we see when we look.</p>
<p> This is where the vast field of illusions comes into being.  We see what we see, our eyes do not fool us, but our brain does, it turns around and says “nope, that is not what you see&#8230;this is what you see”.  Amazing isn’t it.  Our brain and our eyes are at war.  Mostly the brain wins.</p>
<p> But, where does the physical eye connect to so that we are able to see hate in someone&#8217;s eyes?  Actually, let me re&#45;phrase that.  How is it possible that we can express emotions in our eyes?  I mean, to actually see this emotion in the physical appearance of the eyes.  Where does that come from?  How does that happen?</p>
<p> This is why we all like to look into each others eyes when we talk.  When we love someone, we can stare for hours into our partner&#8217;s eyes.  Obviously, it’s not just to look at two marble like objects.  So, where do our eyes connect so that we can see love in each other, actually see love physically?</p>
<p> What&#8217;s that about, that our eyes can connect to our soul, our spirit, and convey what we feel?</p>
<p> I remember on one occasion, at someone&#8217;s funeral, it was the first time I had a true glimpse into a friend&#8217;s soul, just by looking into their eyes.  It is a moment I will never forget. EVER!</p>
<p> What about when you look at someone and you see hate?  Is that person allowing you to see this emotion, or, is this emotion a part of the natural process of us being human, and so it naturally shows itself?</p>
<p> We see hate in the eyes, we see love, fear, compassion and even confusion in the eyes.</p>
<p> How often have you looked deep into a friend’s eyes, and seen tenderness?</p>
<p> The eye is a little oval object in our body.  Yet, it seems to be able to hold the very essence of our being at any given time.</p>

<p>It is also seen that persons, who keep themselves on a low fat, low carbohydrate diet on a long time or have been taking appetite suppressants, do have food craving; it is because they have become at least partially insulin resistant without realizing this condition. In the normal course blood sugar level of the body is maintained stable by the action of insulin; insulin signals the cells of the body to absorb glucose from the bloodstream when necessary.</p>
<p>Because of their insulin resistant condition, the cells do not respond to the signal and cannot mop up glucose they need. This results in a distress signal to the brain asking for more carbohydrates or sugar. The body thus receives excess calories which are deposited as fat and the person starts gaining weight in spite of eating less.</p>
<p><strong>Beating the craving</strong></p>

<p>Medication and psychotherapy or talk therapy are by far the most common methods of treatment. However, breathing techniques, often overlooked, can also be extremely effective in helping social anxiety disorder sufferers cope.</p>
<p>One of the best breathing techniques that can offer relief is a technique called the &#8220;cleansing breath&#8221; technique. It&#8217;s very simple to learn and can be used discretely in almost any environment. You can employ the &#8220;cleansing breath&#8221; technique by inhaling slowly and silently counting to ten as you inhale. Then, proceed to hold the air in your lungs for another ten count. When finished, slowly exhale and count to ten again as you release the air.</p>
<p>If you do this three or four times in a row you&#8217;ll find that your heart rate will slow and you will begin to feel more relaxed. This technique is certainly not a cure-all but it has proven effective. Many social anxiety disorder sufferers employ this technique before engaging in a stress causing event such as public speaking or a job interview.</p>
<p>Another breathing technique that can provide relief is called &#8220;power breathing&#8221;. This technique is best done in private. &#8220;Power breathing&#8221; is performed by resting the palms of your hands on your lower abdomen and deeply breathing in while distending your lower stomach muscles. In other words, as you breathe in you consciously push out your stomach muscles. Next, release your breath and pull your stomach muscles in as the air is released.</p>
<p>Your chest should rise at the same time that your breath is released. To achieve the maximum benefit from &#8220;power breathing&#8221; try repeating this exercise several times in a row until you achieve a rocking motion. This technique helps to relax the body from head to toe.</p>
<p>As you practice and perfect these two techniques you will find that they can significantly reduce your social anxiety disorder symptoms. The best part about breathing techniques is that they are free! Unlike medication and psychotherapy, breathing techniques do not cost a thing and are scientifically proven to help social anxiety disorder sufferers.</p>

Remove everything from the house, that in any way reminds you of smoking, ashtrays, the last pack, including your secret stash, all lighters and whatever you can think of, if it&#8217;s not gone, you are inevitably going to run across it, and it will get your thinking back towards smoking, which is a bad thing.</p>
<p>4. Realize that the best thing you can do for yourself, is just make the decision to quit smoking for a month, it is a lot easier to imagine as real instead of for good. <p>7. Write up a list of reasons for you to quit smoking, at least 10, and read them to yourself twice a day for at least the last 10 days before quitting. Then do a little private ceremony with yourself where you either bury them, or burn them up. Don&#8217;t underestimate the meaning of this to symbolic act on your subconscious mind.</p>
<p>8. Write up a list of all the benefits of quitting smoking that you can think of, again at least 10 of them. Then read them to yourself every morning and evening, from the day you quit, it can be very motivating, and it will help keep you on the right track.</p>
<p>9. Change your habits: If you are used to start of the day, by sitting in the same place, drinking the first cup of coffee, and smoking the days first cigarette. Start taking your coffee standing up, or in a different room, while reading something, or writing&#8230; Do things differently than you are used too.</p>
<p>10. In the first couple of months after quitting, stay away from other smokers, say thanks to any invites, but make it clear that if there are going to be smoked in the house, you would prefer not to visit. If they agree to smoke outside, or in a specific room, then by all means go and socialize, it is always a good thing to meet other people, just stay clear of the obvious dangers.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Since moving to a tropical climate, I&#8217;ve noticed something interesting: I&#8217;ve developed an appetite for raw garlic. I&#8217;ve always enjoyed garlic in my raw food dishes and have used it medicinally to cure an ear infection. But living in Bali I find myself eating a few cloves of raw garlic at least twice a week.</p>
<p>I was curious why I developed this unexpected craving so I did some research and discovered that raw garlic has powerful medicinal properties with some great health benefits.</p>
<p>Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is part of the lily family and it&#8217;s medicinal use dates back to 4000 BCE. It grows well in nearly every climate, so it is known throughout the world. Hippocrates, the founder of western medicine, used garlic in some cancer treatments. In ancient Egypt garlic was valued as a general health tonic and sometimes even used as currency. Later in the middle ages, garlic was used in treating victims of the plaque. Even as late as WW II, garlic was used as an effective replacement for antibiotics.</p>
<p>The Medicinal Properties of Garlic</p>
<p>Garlic is high in sulfur, which accounts for some of it&#8217;s medicinal potency. The stronger the taste of the garlic, the higher the sulfur content and the better it is for you. Two other medicinally potent compounds in garlic are Diallyl Sulphides, which increase blood circulation, and Allicin, an anti-biotic, and anti-fungal compound.</p>
<p>In general terms raw garlic is:</p>
<p>A broad spectrum anti-biotic</p>
<p>Highly Anti-fungal</p>
<p>Highly Anti-bacterial</p>
<p>Highly Anti-parasitical</p>
<p>High in antioxidants</p>
<p>And the major health benefits of garlic are:</p>
<p>1. Increases blood circulation and thins the blood &#8211; this can lower blood pressure, reduce the likelihood of blood clots and lower the risk of heart attack and stroke</p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to note that these health benefits only apply to the use of raw garlic. The active compounds in garlic are destroyed by cooking. They are also lost over time. Crushing or chopping raw garlic releases its medicinally potent compounds, which are sensitive to oxidation. It is best to consume the raw fresh garlic shortly after crushing or chopping to get the highest benefit.</p>
<p>How To Use Raw Garlic</p>
<p>Internally &#8211; take 1 to 2 cloves or crushed raw garlic every other day. I sometimes just pop a clove in my mouth with some olive oil or avocado and chew it up (to keep it from burning). I also blend it in raw soups, use it in guacamole or sprinkle it over my salad. You can eat raw parsley afterwards to sweeten your breath.</p>
<p>Topically &#8211; make a poultice with raw garlic to use on skin infections like athletes foot or warts. Be careful not to irritate the skin by using too much.</p>
<p>As A Tincture &#8211; you can use garlic oil drops in the nose, as a gargle or in the ears to fight infection. Make garlic oil drops by mixing one clove crushed garlic with 10ml (4 oz.) pure water.</p>
<p>Garlic is generally very safe, but in some people and at higher doses, it can cause irritation to the stomach and skin. Also people who are on any kind of blood thinning medication not take garlic medicinally without first talking to their doctor. Garlic should be used very sparingly with small children.</p>
