Plantar Fasciitis Splint Reviews

Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint Reviews

The first night splint on our list is the Medium sizes Bird & Cronin model.  This model features a lightweight design to make the process of falling asleep easier.  It also features a slip-resistant sole to prevent slipping and increase safety during use.  This particular model sells for $23.40 on Amazon and has a 3.9/5 rating over more than 120 consumer reviews (making it one of the most reviewed night splints on Amazon).  It should also be noted that Bird & Cronin sell a Large sized model that retails for the same price and has an identical 3.9/5 rating over 70 consumer reviews.

The second model on our list is the Heel & Foot night splint by AlphaBrace.  This model features a lightweight shell that is both breathable and durable.  It also features three padded straps with buckles to ensure immobilization and a breathable soft foam interior that helps reduce the buildup of heat while sleeping.  This model sells for between $23 and $25 on Amazon and has a 4.2/5 rating over more than 60 consumer reviews.

The third model on our list is simply referred to as the Plantar Fasciitis Splint and is made by north.  This model is a super basic splint that features a strap that attaches to your foot, a strap that attaches to your calf, and a cable that pulls the foot up towards the calf and knee.  This model is one size fits all and is made of polyester, neoprene and foam.  It sells for $8.90 on Amazon with a 2.9/5 rating.  Because of this we do not recommend this model for long-term treatment.

The next model on our list is the Futuro Adjustable Sleep Support.  This night splint features a comfortable, low-profile support system that is made using light-weight, latex free materials.  It also features a durable, patented cushion for constant support and soft, durable, breathable straps designed to wick moisture away.  It is worth noting that this model only weighs 2.6 ounces; most models we have covered so far weigh between 1.2 and 1.4 pounds.  The Futuro model sells for $26.50 and has a 3.6/5 rating over 12 consumer reviews.

The next model on our list, made by Mueller Sports Medicine, is the black Adjustable Plantar Fasciitis Night Support.  This basic model goes over the toes and connects at the ankle, with an adjustable strap used to pull the toes upwards towards the ankle.  It features an adjustable strapping system for comfort and low profile mesh that is both breathable and comfortable (it also weighs just 3.6 ounces).  The Mueller model sells for $17.30 and has a dismal 2.5/5 rating over 21 consumer reviews.  We would recommend against this model.

The next model on our list is virtually identical to the Mueller model however it attaches to a larger section of the foot instead of just the ankle.  The only main difference to this model is that it features ‘Thermoskin’ material, which is supposed to keep the skin and tissue warm, allowing for easier stretching of the tendon.  This model sells for $34.95 on Amazon yet only has a 3.3/5 rating over more than 20 consumer reviews.  Given the price here, we would recommend one of the cheaper yet higher rated models.

The next model on our list is the Darco One Size Fits All Night Splint by Body Armor.  This high-tech looking device (image to the right) features an Elastic Connector Ring, which allows for natural flexion of the foot and toes during sleep, returning to the dorsi-flexed position when the muscles are relaxed.  This is important as maintaining a dorsi-flex position is how night splints elongate the tendon and keep it stretched out while sleeping.  This model also offers the ability to load a Windlass Mechanism, which “naturally pulls the foot/ankle to a near 90 degree angle, eliminating the lever effect and the resulting pressure on the apex of the ankle” (according to the manufacturer).  The Darco model is 13.6 ounces, sells for $47.91 on Amazon and has a 3.7/5 rating over 18 consumer reviews.

Next on our list is the Brown Medical Cool Stretch Night Splint.  This model features a removable ice pack and to fit and non-skid treads on the bottom (which make walking with the brace safer).  This model also features “a fixed angle support with a rigid, low profile design to hold the flexion and allow the plantar fascia to heal”.  This item weighs one pound (and appears rather bulky), sells for $43.84 and has a 4.2/5 rating over 18 consumer reviews, one of the highest ratings we have seen up to this point.

Next on our list is the Swede-O Deluxe Padded Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint.  This heavily padded model features soft gray padded covers, which provide not only comfort but protection from irritation to the skin.  Last but not least, a removable foam wedge insert is included for an additional 5 degree stretch on the plantar fascia.  This model sells for $59.90 in Small – XXL and has a 3.5/5 rating over 43 consumer reviews.

Moving beyond Amazon, we have the Nice Stretch X Lite Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint sold on  This model is ‘one size fits most,’ is compact for traveling and is made using latex-free materials.  This model sells for $29.98 on  Unfortunately it only has a 2.5/5 star rating.

The next model available through Walmart is the Ace Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support (one size adjustable).  While they do not offer any product specifications, this model appears less bulky than the other models we have reviewed up to this point.  It also has a 4.7/5 rating over 3 consumer reviews, including one review that states “Now I know if I increase the milage or pound [the] pavement really hard, sleep with the brace that night, [I have] no more trouble”.  This model sells for $26.38 on

The last model on our list available through Walmart is the Nice Stretch 90 Ice Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint.  This model is similar to the Nice Stretch X Lite however this model includes an ice pack for added healing ability (it should be noted it can be used without the ice pack).  This model was also designed using light-weight materials and incorporates a low-profile design that compacts, making it easy to travel with.  The Nice Stretch 90 sells for $45 on and has a 5/5 rating over 3 consumer reviews.

The next model on our list is the Form Fit Posterior Night Splint from  This model features a “patented 3-dimensional padding throughout the shell and adjustable flexion straps that control the amount of stretch provided for effective treatment” (10-90 dorsiflexion).  The soft, LYCRA lined foam interior on this model is plush, washable and breathable to eliminate heat build-up.  LYCRA lined, foam-padded straps maintain comfort across the flexor tendons.  User-friendly, center-release buckles simplify the process of putting on and taking off the brace, its lightweight, low-profile shell is sturdy and breathable Last but not least, this model is available with or without Slip-Resistant Tread.  This model sells for $36.84 on, however we do not have access to any consumer reviews.

That’s it for our review of the various plantar fasciitis night splint models available online.  As you can see, most models cost between $25 and $50, and the more expensive models are not necessarily those most favored by consumers.  As we noted in the beginning, research has found that most high quality splints offer the same amount of relief, so do not feel obligated to buy the most expensive splint on the market.
